Dyson V8 cordless vacuum sucks harder

Dyson has announced the new cord-free Dyson V8 vacuum cleaner, set to succeed the impressive V6 range.

The Dyson V8 offers an impressive 40-minute runtime and up to 115AW (Air Watts) suction. That’s a serious increase on the 20-minute runtime and 100AW suction that 2014’s Dyson V6 offered.

Dyson has also made the Dyson V8 quieter, producing around 50% less noise than its predecessor.

One of the biggest improvements is the new Dyson V8 digital motor that powers the new cleaner. According to Dyson, the motor runs at 425W, and comes with upgraded drive electronics and software.

“We’ve spent more than a decade and over £250 million developing our small and powerful digital motors,” said company founder James Dyson. “Our latest generation motor sits at the heart of the Dyson V8 cord-free vacuum.”

“It’s the result of 18 months research and development and 500,000 hours of testing,” Dyson continued. “This motor enables the Dyson V8 cord-free vacuum cleaner to be powerful and versatile, transforming the way people clean their homes.”

Other perks of the Dyson V8 include its feathery 2.6kg body and the new bin emptying mechanism. There’s now a “hygienic dirt ejector” that drives out trapped dust and debris with a rubber collar.
